newsletter writing

"Scott's been writing articles for my
bi-monthly newsletter since its inaugural issue. Actually it probably wouldn't have happened at all unless Scott had been involved, because I simply don't have the time to write the articles! The process has worked really well, ensures I have quality copy with vastly reduced effort, and has had excellent feedback from my subscribers. I'm very happy with the service, it's a gem."

You might hear an awful lot of people talk about how great newsletter marketing can be. That’s because it can work really, really well, but ONLY if they’re written correctly.

You see, no one wants a newsletter just filled with marketing spiel, and why would they? It isn’t interesting, and they certainly wouldn’t enjoy reading yet more sales patter every issue.

A successful newsletter campaign (which generates sales) is based on three absolutely essential elements, and they’re the three elements which I will include in every newsletter I create for you:

• Interesting content – Information which relates to the subscribers, and information which they will personally find very interesting to read.

• Valuable expert information – Your newsletter needs to ooze value in every way. It needs to be a valuable read, so subscribers absorb information which entertains them and helps them to learn new things. This also helps to cement your position as an authoritative expert in your industry.

• No hard selling – Subscribers want interesting information, but at the same time, you want your newsletters to eventually generate sales. This is where the ‘soft sell’ approach comes in. In a nutshell, valuable content will be the only priority, but occasionally some sales-related messages will be slipped in which just nudges subscribers towards what you’re selling. That means your newsletter subtly sells your business offerings, but doesn’t detract away from the strong appeal of the newsletter.

Get these three elements right, and you will have a newsletter which is so interesting and valuable, it will:

• Help spread the word and generate new subscribers

• Leave subscribers EAGER for more and actually looking forward to the next issue

• Help subscribers to like your business and become more receptive to any sales messages you do send to them

• Help visitors learn about your products and services, and help them realise just how useful and beneficial they really are.

Your subscribers are happy because they are receiving this great read, and you’re happy because you’re getting more sales. Everybody wins.

What’s in newsletter?

There’s no strict templates or formats. I’m very flexible in what I can do, so we can discuss the industry you’re in and devise a bespoke structure which I can use to write every issue.

Most of the time, the newsletters I write on your behalf can include things like:

• Main articles on interesting industry information – Full-blown articles on industry-related topics, all researched and written by me

• The latest industry news – I’ll scour the web and find interesting news to display

• Tips of the week or month – Mini chunks of very useful information which subscribers simply love to read

• Jargon-busters – Little segments which teach subscribers about industry-related words and meanings

• Mini-articles – If you would prefer something other than a jargon-buster or tip of the week/month segment, smaller articles can be included instead, which briefly discuss an interesting topic or piece of news.

• Exclusive special offers – Tell me if you have any special offers and I’ll write up a small segment to generate interest. Another great way to eventually turn subscribers into customers.

This and more can be mixed and matched to generate your perfect regular newsletter - and you don't even have to lift a finger.
